I just drank Hershey's chocolate syrup. That's what you resort to if you don't keep chocolate in the house for those extreme urgings. A couple of tablespoons of chocolate chips would have worked, but I'm like "Oh I'm so righteous about my eating. I don't need chocolate anymore. I don't need sugar. I don't keep those things in the house." Then two minutes ago, I thought I was going to die from chocolate desire and I found this old plastic bottle syrup in the door of the refrigerator and glugged it down.
That's what happens when you have a veggie sandwich for lunch.
Amen. Dove Chocolate Promises are my stash of choice, although Trader Joe's Dark Chocolate with Whole Hazelnuts is what I prefer to eat. I just tend to eat too much of that once it's open. It's a giant bar. The Dove Promises come in convenient bite-sized pieces. A friend told me that she determined that Dove chocolate has the most chocolate per calorie of any brand, in case you were interested.
ReplyDeleteyou made my day
ReplyDeleteI agree with Jacqueline. You make me laugh right out loud. Better than any chocolate glug. Though I really like both!
ReplyDeleteI drank a couple of tablespoons of vinegar on a dare back at Christmastime. It wasn't nearly as good as chocolate syrup would be.
ReplyDeleteIt's true, even when one is trying to be healthy, that there should always be a package of chocolate chips somewhere in the house.
ReplyDeleteDear Louise,
ReplyDeleteI'm convinced we're going to get brownie points in heaven for all of the people we make laugh. You'll have more points than anyones around. Drowning in heavenly brownie points might not be half as good as drowning in earthly brownies, but sometimes we have to take what we can get.
Wishing you earthly brownies with the power of my thoughts.
K
I've decided to own the fact that I can't live on veggie sandwiches during the winter months. There's always spring and summer for that.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this happy post!
I like to put a little "cough syrup" in the Hershey's syrup. I find that if I am this desperate, I need a little more than chocolate.
ReplyDeleteEw.
ReplyDeleteI love you. I love you. I love you. I was nearly driven to distraction by my need of a chocolate doughnut the other day, and I'm happy to be in such good company. They told me today on the website for anxiety home remedies that I should be avoiding refined carbs and chocolate. I guess it's time for a valium prescription, because that is not happening.
ReplyDeleteLouise,
ReplyDeleteMy husband loves the stuff, but it is wasted on me.
I heard you speak at BYU years ago and you told the funniest story about tall Paul and your blind date. I can still here your voice...your sense of humor is so refreshing. I purchased your book and enjoyed reading it. I found your husband's tapes "Eating Chocolates and Dancing in the Kitchen" some time after. I can't tell you how many times we listened to it in the dark in bed and how hard we laughs or how many road trips it went on with us. We really identified with the comedy and stories of the middle years of marriage.
I was especially touched listening to the one about Tom's brush with cancer. Little did we know that down the road we would have a similar experience. My husband is fine and free from it nearly three years now.
When I tripped across your blog I couldn't believe my good fortune and was delighted to realize that all those little yellow strips of legal paper had been realized.
Just thought you might want to know that someone was touched by your words so long ago.
Have a great day.
Janet
