Tomorrow morning, we leave for Gilbert, Arizona for a few days. I have never been to Arizona, except for that little corner where I-15 curves in on the way to Balboa Island in Southern California. We are staying with our friends, the Poelmans, and I am doing my journal spiel to some R.S. ladies. It will be fun. I love a car trip with Tom. We can discuss, again, what names we'd use if we were in the Witness Protection Program: the WPP. How do you like Isabella Spencer-Churchill? This is the first time I've thought of using a hyphenated name, and I went for the most aristocratic one I could think of.
I got my hair cut. At first I thought it was a good cut, but now that I've lived with it a day, I think I look like Javier Bardem in NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN. I look like a serial killer.
Oh vel, as my mother used to say.
My grandparents are the Salt Lake Poelman people. Do you know them too? I think Amaretto would be a good first name for you in the WPP ... I don't even know why though.
ReplyDeleteYou don't look like Javier Bardem, and I know what that haircut looks like. Bryce always watches that movie before bed. He loves the part at the end where the sheriff tells about his father waiting with fire in all that darkness. Maybe have your bangs thinned with a razor, take out the heaviness in your fringe. I can do that for you when you come to Gilbert.
ReplyDeleteYou must go to Liberty Market for lunch. Order the white pizza. Joe's BBQ, Oregano's, and Tia Rosa's are other good places to eat. I hope you have a safe trip. Can you even wait for some Arizona sun?
I need the journal spiel...can you post the condensed version?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure they place serial killers in WPP...
ReplyDeleteGilbert, Arizona, duh that's where Rachel lives. You should stop by and say hi. She might even make you some lemonade and let you swing on her swingset.
ReplyDeletehahahahahahahahahahahahaha about the Javier thing. If you DO like him, then all I can say is that Javier is one good-looking woman.
ReplyDeleteWish I were going to AZ with you.
Louise, where are you going to be spieling? I live in Mesa, AZ and would love to hear what you have to say.
ReplyDeletePlus, with Deirdre Paulsen's recommendation of you through years of taking her classes, I feel like we should've met a long time ago.
Reading your blog posts always puts a smile on my face. Thank you for writing it!
ReplyDelete~ from a rural Kansas Lutheran
I found it! I found Gilbert!
ReplyDeleteWe moved to Salt Lake from Gilbert! Ditto on Joe's BBQ get the Jumbo Baker with pulled pork and the sweet and spicy BBQ sauce. You won't regret it. Oregano's is good eats too.
ReplyDeleteAwesome, awesome art-journaling and scrapbook store in downtown Mesa called Mystic Paper. I could cry at the thought of you going there.
Have fun in the sun!

ReplyDeleteHurry please! :)
You mean you two aren't already in the witness protection program?
ReplyDeleteI just had to stop by and tell you how much I LOVED what you had to say and I feel so blessed I got to be there for it. Thank you, thank you for your inspiration. Much Love, Shawni
