The bride wore a pale pink, knee-length organza gown and high red, sexy heels. The groom wore man cave clothes. Elvis wore a spangly jacket, cut low in the front to show off his hairy, suntanned chest. And, of course, he wore sunglasses. I fell in love.
The vows included: Do you promise to love her tender and true and never take her to Heartbreak Hotel? Do you promise never to treat him like a hound dog or step on his blue-suede shoes? Elvis gyrated and sang, walked them up and down the aisle, pushed a button for drum rolls and "ahhhs", and slicked back his black pompadour.
The bride and groom's two daughters, Rian and Samantha, were bridesmaids while the Hankster performed duties as the best man.
There was to be no ring exchange, but the groom surprised the bride with a mucho diamonds anniversary ring.
After the wedding, the groom hosted a buffet dinner at the Paris Hotel for the wedding party.
The bride and groom both agreed that this was the sort of wedding they wanted the first time around: Elvis cool.
The mother of the groom laughed uncontrollably while the father of the groom (who was the only one to wear a tie) held his head in his hands to keep his brains from falling out.
Thank you, Ed and Dede, for the most exuberant evening I've had in years.
Hmm, I think I want an "Elvis-Cool" wedding the first time around too.
