I know someone who is thinking of cutting her long tresses and going for a boyish crop instead. It's an exhilarating move, powerful and whimsical at the same time. I did it the first time at the end of sophomore year and it redefined me. It was an important "scene" in my life, and I included it in my first novel.
Mia Farrow (above) cut her waist-long hair at eighteen and married Frank Sinatra.
And you know what happened to Joan of Arc.
So here's to a little hair drama. It's summer. Cut it off.
Is Anne thinking of this? She would, of course, be beautiful. On the other hand it must be said that I found pictures of myself with uber short hair and for a minute I thought I was looking at pictures of my brother. Which was disturbing.
ReplyDelete*giggles* *glances at hair* I LOOOOOOVE my super short hair. Suddenly I started being told of the Juliette Lewis resemblance. ;)
ReplyDeleteBE DARING! I actually wrote a blog post once on the similarities between revising and drastic-hair-cutting :)
I've had a super short cut a few times, usually at the beginning of a summer. I would refer to it as my summer shearing. One of the things I've learned is, love it or hate it, nothing you do to your hair is permanent so why not shake things up from time to time.
