I am loving my 12 year old daughter inhaling and thoroughly enjoying books by Louise Plummer.
ReplyDeleteI am loving the fact that my 14 year old son has to read Pride and Prejudice for English.
For a mother whose children will never read what I suggest, things are going pretty well.

you should go louise. it is a nice stepping stone to a full body massage. you'd love it.
Hedgehog is on my list of things to read. I'll have to get to it soon. I usually love September, but this month I've been grumpy. So, let's see. I'm loving long soaks in the bath. Learning a new piano piece. And milk chocolate chips straight out of the bag.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy for you and your ankle. That is a cheerful thing:an ankle that works.
The Elegance of the Hedgehog is one of my all-time favorite books! I copied this quote from the character Renee (isn't she the greatest character?!?) on the first page of my latest journal:
ReplyDelete"Freed from the demands of decision and intention, adrift on some inner sea, we observe our various movements as if they belonged to someone else, and yet we admire their involuntary excellence. What other reason might I have for writing this . . . ridiculous journal . . . if the writing it did not have something of the art of scything about it? The lines gradually become their own demiurges and, like some witless yet miraculous participant, I witness the birth on paper of sentences that have eluded my will and appear in spite of me on the sheet, teaching me something that I neither knew not thought I might want to know. This painless birth, like an unsolicited proof, gives me untold pleasure, and with neither toil nor certainty, but joy of frank astonishment I follow the pen that is guiding and supporting me."
Love that.
It is cool enough to turn off the air conditioner and be comfortable. I'm not bracing against fierce winter wind and my flowers are still blooming.
ReplyDeleteI love Netflix. I think God created it to give all the long-suffering saints a way to distract themselves as we waiting for the Second Coming.

Little Women. I've decided that I'm ashamed of myself for having a degree in English and never having read classics like Little Women and Jane Eyre so I am rectifying the situation.
