The Land of Green Plums

So, it turned out to be a fine read. A fine read followed by an encore: Herta Muller's acceptance speech for the Nobel Prize, "Do You Have a Handkerchef?" Like the novel, it was lyrical. I should have read the entire book in a single reading like a poem.

When I finished, I read the first fifty pages again. I liked what she did with the motif of trees, leaves and grasses. There's a paper topic there.

It's wet and cold today. Tom and I took a drive and read a few poems to stave off the doldrums. I weighed in with the nutritionist and had lost a pound and a half. Good.

We spent the afternoon in the library preparing for classes tomorrow. After a couple of hours, Anne came searching for us looking like a wet hound. She had left her "work shoes" in our car.
We called it quits and drove her to work.

I yell from my bed to her in the next room: "Stop coughing!"

She yells back: "Shuddup!"

She makes us happy.

  1. I say "stop coughing" to my kids all the time, like they can help it. I think we're twins, Louise. We have a study supply of Promethazine with Codeine cough syrup. It's a cough-free night of sleep in a bottle. Would Anne like me to send her some? :)

  2. Maybe a cough free drug induced night is important even if nobody is coughing!!!
