I liked the first episode this season when House was in prison. Plenty of tension there. After that, House turned into his usual ill-tempered, boorish self without the powerful Cuddy to restrain him. The rest of the cast seems like milk toast. The Korean girl can't act. The new girl doesn't have the beauty or sadness of 13. All the characters move through their dull, mechanical lives while House acts like a spoiled child. He isn't funny. He used to be funny. Now, he's only annoying.
Has it changed since the third episode?
I am watching a fine, edgy series called THE COMMANDER on Netflix with Amanda Burton.
We got rid of cable last week, so we have no TV coming into the house, but I can see anything I want to see on Hulu. I find my TV watching is more deliberate if I have to go through the trouble of bringing it up on the computer. I don't sit on the couch watching listlessly, hardly caring what's on. That behavior bothers me.
And I read more.
I still watch out of guilt. It's the same reason I can't just stop reading a book that I'm not enjoying. Last weeks episode was the best one this year, but unfortunately it is not the norm. Sad. I do hear that this is the last year. Probably a good thing.
ReplyDeleteI solve random TV watching by only watching on my DVR. I never watch a live show.
I've been watching this season and can't agree with you more. House is dull. Which is probably why I read today that they are canceling it at the end of this season. I was relieved when I heard the news; thank goodness everyone else feels the same way I do about this season.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm... I seem to have used the word "season" excessively. Feel free to scratch two of them and replace them with something else.
ReplyDeleteI discovered House last summer - and LOVED it! I acquired the first couple of seasons, and then, I lost interest. I think the writers got bored. Or I did.
ReplyDeleteI don't have cable either for the same reason, and also because I am too cheap. I have a list of shows that I watch online and House is on it. Some of 'my shows' get watched ASAP. New episodes of House get watched when I have no other new episodes left and I'm not in the middle of a good book.
ReplyDeleteHave you watched Touch? My young that one.
ReplyDeleteI stopped watching House a long time ago. I got tired of the repetitive plot line. We do the Netflix/Hulu thing too. I have a ton of British shows on instant watch in Netflix. I admit I got bored with The Commander. Our latest thing is Downton Abby. Even my husband, who really only likes shows with killing, cars and crashes and generally avoids foreign stuff because it requires thought, is digging DA. We watched season one on Netflix, we are on season 2 at PBS.ORG.
ReplyDeleteI have been watching Judy Denich (?), the British actress in several tv shows from the 90's. (Netflix, of course). It has renewed my appreciation for her fine acting skills. Just finished Behaving Badly with her. I liked that, a lot.
Oh gosh. I just realized what I've done. I've publicly outed myself as a the world's biggest couch potato. How embarrassing.
