Why I haven't posted since March 30

1. Because it's the last weeks of the semester and I'm reading research papers and meeting with my students. And each day I fall into bed. FALL. INTO. BED.

2. Because I made Easter dinner and it takes me three days to clean the apartment, set the table, and cook the meal.

3. The real reason. I watched four years of MAD MEN. In the middle of which, I fell into such despair, I had to have a good cry on the toilet in the middle of the night. Actually, a good cry is a cleaning out and I don't have them often. The next day I was all better. Now I'm into the new season of MAD MEN. I am especially fond of the character, Peggy. Mostly, the people act despicably, but sometimes it's so funny I laugh out loud. Like when the Sterling Cooper Ad Agency gets John Deere as a client and one of the secretaries is driving a small tractor around the office and runs into the new and arrogant vice president breaking his foot and ankle so badly that it needs to be amputated.

And I loved when a spoiled daughter's wedding day is ruined because of John Kennedy's death.

Betty is the meanest ice queen ever.

I avoided MAD MEN for four years and now I'm besotted.

  1. Hmm. You've almost convinced me to jump on the Mad Men wagon. There is such a thing, right? I think with martinis and lipstick.

  2. i'm glad you've got your priorities straight. Maybe I'll give MadMen a try. I've watched all of Midsomer Murders even the new ones in Season 15 and loved them, so I'm trusting you to steer me straight. I'm glad you're back - I missed you:)

  3. I wonder what was in the air since March 30 that I too have watched three seasons of Damages well into the early morning. A few all nighters. Glenn Close created Ice Queen. I don't love it but I am drawn to evil conniving women right now. Glad your back blogging. I need a laugh outloud.

  4. What was in the air, indeed. I watched the first and second seasons of Downton Abbey, these past few weeks. I highly recommend these, if there are those out there who have not yet enjoyed.

  5. I just started watching season 5 of Mad Men and I'm hooked. Bryce had to catch me up to speed on the last four seasons since he's been watching the show since its beginning. I couldn't fall asleep after last night's episode--so scandalous. Did Don Draper really kill her?
