Nasty Louise wishes you Happy Easter

It is a gorgeous Easter day in Salt Lake City:  blue sky, warm temperatures, pansies and daffodils sprouting everywhere.  I turned on the radio from our beddy and we listened to choral music on our favorite classical station and touched toesies under the bed covers.

We went to church where the first hour was about using lds.org and how to teach like Jesus (we tell "stories.")  Why don't we all stay home and read lds. org posts and text in our testimonies?  When they divided us into groups, I left to blow my nose and never came back.

Okay, I have a head cold now.  The grundge just keeps on giving.  This is week three.

I sat in the car and listened to "The Spoken Word," about straightening out bent nails, which then are stronger than new nails. (You can change yourself into a better and stronger self, if you're diligent and faithful).  Where do they come up with these metaphors?

My reward was the Tab Choir singing the "Hallelujah Chorus,"  I sang along, the tenor part, which is the way I learned it in high school A capella.  If I could have replayed it, I would have.

Tom wandered out of church after awhile and said, "We need an ice cream cone."  Spot on.

We drove up Emigration Canyon and considered how two nasty people like us could have grown up in the same neighborhood.

Just lucky, I guess.

  2. I *heart* you both and hope your ice cream was delightful.
We skipped out on church too, but only because my mother-in-law had taken new medication this morning and it had the weird side effect of making her love everyone. She tried to get the toddlers in the foyer to hug and kiss her and kept telling me she loved me and that I was the best daughter-in-law ever, which told us she was completely out of her mind. We took her home before anyone could accuse her of being friendly.

  3. We were lucky enough to be in SLC on Easter Sunday and after going to hear the Spoken Word - which was awesome since the orchestra and the handbells were there also ( and we got to see my sister who sings in the choir) . My son mentioned that it was the best half hour of church and wished every week was just like it. We then met up with said sister and spoiled ourselves with an Easter Brunch at the Cheesecake Factory and enjoyed the best cheesecake for dessert, we all ordered different flavours and shared. I have a new favorite- Banana Cream Pie Cheesecake. i highly recommend you pick some up for your next drive up the canyon, it was DIVINE!
