I love this picture. I love that Tom and Sam are color coordinated without consulting each other. Sharon rented the wheelchair. David was taking pictures with his new phone. He told me he had to have Sam teach him how to answer it. It's one of those swipe things.
The Festival of Trees is a bitter-sweet experience. It celebrates the lives of dead children. So while the trees and wreathes are gorgeous to see, it is a little like walking through a picturesque cemetery. So much loss in one room and so much love.
The good part is that all is donated to Primary Children's Hospital. Every last penny. Go and see it. Stop by B-4 and see Lucy's tree. Lucy Gladys Plummer. Rest in peace, baby.
And so now I'm crying. Seriously.
ReplyDeleteMy ladybugs for Lucy are en route as I write this. Love all of you xxoo

Reminds me of a quote I like by Washington Irving. Is it silly to rearrange the word 'tears' for 'trees?'
ReplyDelete“There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They are messengers of overwhelming grief...and unspeakable love.”
I went with 2 girlfriends last night to the Festival of Trees. Lucy's tree is just absolutely beautiful. What inspiration to make something so remarkable and in relation to such a sweet spirit.
ReplyDeleteThank you for letting us know where it would be.
Is Festival of Trees a local event? Who sponsors it? Tell me more. And PS that scarf is ever so lovely to covet.
ReplyDeleteVery nice Mother.
ReplyDeleteYes Bonnie, it's a charity event and all the proceeds go to Primary Children's Medical Center in SLC. All the info is here http://festivaloftreesutah.org/
