The week in review

Thursday night, we went to the King's English to have Ann help us with books for our grandkids. Her knowledge of what was hot and what was not, was inspiring. I especially loved her choice for fifteen year old Harrison. He won't be expecting it. (Tell you after Christmas).

Friday, our high school gang met early to drive to Midway to shop in the Christmas boutique, have lunch at Nan's, visit Mindy's beautifully decorated home, and visit the varied
creches gathered under one roof. At the end of the tour, we had our picture taken for free dressed as the participants in the Christmas story. Christine is the shepherd, Diane is the angel, Jane is Joseph, Nan is Mary, I am a king and so are Marie and Wendy. Two of our gang are missing. LeeAnn is in Boise and Melanie is in Tiberius on the Sea of Galilee. Now that's what I call Christmas.

On Saturday night, Tom and I took Sam and Sarah to the symphony and they took us to dinner at The Garden in the Joseph Smith building. It was crowded with Christmas cheer, but we didn't mind waiting and looking out the window at the lit-up Temple Square. Haven't seen that
sight for a few years. Listened to Saint-Seans' cello concerto. In the next world, I play the cello. Sexy.

The Poelmans visited on Sunday afternoon. They had four children in five years and he said they should wait now. In two years, she wanted more. He didn't. She said, "Well, I'm having six children. Do you want to be the father of all of them?" They had six children. They invited
us down to Arizona. Might drive down one of these cold months.

Monday, I went to the doctor with a long list of topics, nothing life threatening. Waiting for the blood test results. Expect to be healthy. Monday night: card night with the four sisters. We're maniacal laughers. Nothing makes me happier than sniggering with the sisters.

Tuesday, Tom woke up sick with sore throat and general malaise. We cancelled lunch with the
Modlins and he went to the doctor. Sinus Infection.

Wednesday, put dinner in the crock pot and the two of us went out on day-long errands which included postal boxes for the two out of town children, a return to the King's English, Barnes and Noble (hot chocolate) and Xpedex for wrapping paper and ribbon. Came home and wrapped gifts.

Thursday. We're lying about, but the goal is to mail the two boxes to Boise and Pittsburgh.

The truth is that thanks to the internet, we are ahead of our shopping game. Way ahead. My only worry is that I bought Elliot something he might already have.

Time to make a phone call.

Are you finished with your Christmas shopping?

  1. I love Xpedex, the only problem with buying Christmas wrapping there is that seven years later I still have the same paper. I'm tired of it. Instead I got the double sided stuff from Costco.

Also, the post office is the equivalent to Hell this time of year. I hate going there, even more so with my kids.

  2. Why break a long standing tradition of gifting something you've already gifted? It's one of our favorite jokes when opening gifts from you...
    "what could it be?"
"Well, what did you get last year?"
    Please don't change!
Sounds like you are living the life!
