The week in review:

This week::

1) I saw my orthopedic surgeon and scheduled a second ankle replacement in March. It requires a custom made part. I feel so special. Bring on the oxycodone.

2) The struck-down Harrison stayed at our house for two days lying on the sofa like a 19th century consumptive. Even when he's sick, he's good company.

3) I went to see the Tissot exhibit at the Y and was enthralled. Small, perfect, inspired watercolors.

4) A migraine and vomiting early in the week. I hate vomiting. Tom closed the blinds and kept movies running in the DVD and sat with me.

5) One of the week's goals was to take the tree down. Maybe I'll finish that today. All things Christmas putrefy in January.

6) Went to lunch with Olivia. She entertains me with wild Mormon singles stories out of Manhattan. Even better are the descriptions of mentally deranged people she knows. I always come out lower on the derangement scale after Olivia's stories. We used to lunch once a month in NY. I miss that.

7) Homemade cream of broccoli soup and bean soup made from the Christmas ham bone in the refrigerator. An embarrassment of riches.

8) Lots of serious car accidents in Salt Lake this week. The young woman who died on 5th South and 3rd East worked in Charles's office. The young woman who died on 39th South was in Wendie's ward. Watch out, people.

9) Not bathing today. Just saying.

10) Haven't decided about brushing my teeth yet.

  1. Vomiting. Why? Why does that even have to be a part of our existence? It's one of those things that makes me think, "Life's a bitch, and then you die." I try not to live my life thinking like that all the time, but sometimes I allow it, like when my daughter (whose two) vomited all over my carpet last weekend.

    And number 5, totally with you on that too.

  2. When I read the words "ankle replacement" my spine wiggled in a weird way. I love reading your posts. Writing this by the glow of my Christmas tree btw. I can't keep pretending it's not there.

  3. A second ankle replacement, wow.

    Did you brush your teeth?

    Thanks for hosting those 3 boys last night. Elliot has been wanting to go there for a while. I think he likes you.
