Mercedes White brought me home-baked French macarons with a creamy center last Saturday, and I snarfed these delicate sweeties down as if I lived in a war zone. I make noises when I eat like "mmmm" and more "mmmm," so I was humming all afternoon. Tom got about three of them.
Blessings on your head, Mercedes.
Besides being delicious, they are pretty (I ate the pink ones first before the pic was taken) and would be wonderful at a wedding or shower or just for an afternoon of partying by yourself.
Mercedes sells her cookies at the Park City Market from 10 to 5 on Sundays, or you can order them directly from her.
Divine, people, absolutely divine.
Long time lurker speaking up: You should visit Les Madelines, on 2nd E and 5th S, in SLC. They have a limit on how many of one of their treats you can buy, they're that good. But there are no limits on the macarons.
ReplyDeleteAhh, that's dangerously close to home. I'll go tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteWe're off to Les Madelines as soon as I get home. From Missouri. Where it was 106 degrees yesterday. Who knows what West Virginia has in store for us tonight?
ReplyDeletethanks for the shout out louise! my mom commissioned the delivery. we are big believers in the "spoon full of sugar helps the medicine go down school" of thought. and really what physical ailment cannot be alleviated by a little sugar overload. hope you are feeling well soon!
ReplyDeletemy favorite thing at les madelines are those kouing amans. first thing in the morning when they are fresh those things are like CRACK.
their macarons kind of stink though.
I should have read this post first Louise. Mercedes you compare so much to Crack - how do you really know? Is there something I should know?
ReplyDeleteAnd that is the point about macaroons - they must be fresh. Mercedes has this down in spades. And creative flavours.
