Happy Thanksgiving!

We are celebrating Thanksgiving at the Lion House on Friday night.  For those of you who don't know, the Lion House is an extension to Brigham Young's house, which is next door.  It is a lovely gabled house, one wife for each gable, the way I heard it.  Brigham Young's house also had room for wives.  It's worth touring if you ever come to Salt Lake.

Anyway, twenty of us will sit around a table surrounded with antiques and lace curtains, served by young women in lace aprons and caps.  And I will not do an ounce of cooking.  This is the same night that all the lights at Temple Square are turned on, so the city glows with Christmas cheer, and anyone who wants to can walk down to look at it all after dinner.

Right now, Tom and I are lounging about, the smell of roast beef teasing us.  The table is laid with china.  We will eat and then we will go to one or two movies until our heads fall off.

We have already seen the new James Bond SKYFALL, and LINCOLN, both are thumbs up.  Daniel Day Lewis IS Lincoln, an extraordinary performance.  Today, we will begin with a little indie film, A LATE QUARTET and maybe follow up with SESSIONS.

I am thankful to be able to spend this blessed day with Tom doing exactly what we want.

I hope you are doing the same.

  2. Um...My husband and I went to see Sessions last week. Let's just say neither of us will be able to look Helen Hunt in the eye ever again.
I had to come home and Google info. about the movie to help me put it all in context and to help my husband unstick his brain from a couple of scenes that were just a tad graphic. As in A LOT graphic.
On the other hand, I thought after 25 years of marriage, I had heard/read it all. I was wrong.
