I think my friend, Jerry, is right. I have already seen the whole season of this year's Downton Abbey, despite the fact I was bored with the writing. There are so many other attractions. The visuals are completely alluring: the costumes, the English countryside, the automobiles, the estate, the furniture, the hairdos and, yes, the sound of the English language as spoken by the educated. Jerry spotted an egg rack that he intends to copy.
Writing may be high on the list, but I haven't stopped watching. The eyes have it.
