Marrying Rian and Tate late Friday morning is one of those memories that has moved to the top of my favorite memory list. Zap! Who would have thought one could have a favorite memory formed at this late date.
They were married under a canopy of trees with a full grown female grouse as a witness. The grouse was there when we arrived and it stood quietly by through the ceremony and then followed the bride and groom to their car.
"It's symbolic," we all said. But of what?
Tom googled it:
Grouse is associated with The Great Spiral. This is symbolic of personal power and the never ending cycles of life and death. This bird represents personal vision and enlightenment..
It is also the Pennsylvania state bird (Rian is from Pittsburgh). We shouted a big hee haw when we read that.
The whole day was perfect: eating, dancing and funny toasts. What could be better?

I bet your officiating added to the perfection of the day. Is Tate your grandson?

ReplyDeleteIf only we could all have Louise officiating and a grouse presiding at our wedding ceremonies. Perfect.
