This is what the old house looks like now. It's for sale. I laughed when I read that it had seven bedrooms. When my parents bought it in 1950, it had two bedrooms. My parents added two to the back and later added a stairway and three bedrooms in the attic. Rabbit holes. My room was the upstairs room facing the front. It had sloping eaves and built-in bookshelves on either side of that window. It had a bed and a desk. Perfect. I'm sorry to say that it's not pictured in the multiple listings.
Mother's kitchen has been painted and it has a dishwasher! Mother poo poohed dishwashers. Our kitchen table extended into the kitchen. I sat at the end with my back facing the window. Daddy sat at the other end. Mother to his side. For the first time, I can't remember where everyone sat. Toni sat at my right.
Help me out--where did the rest of you sit?
I've not had this experience so tell me what it feels like to revisit this home of your youth and see changes but remember where each of you sat?
ReplyDeletehow much is it selling for?
ReplyDeleteMy parents have changed their house and since I am far away I will not see it till Christmas and I am very nervous to go and see the changes actually I feel I might cry which is silly as it is just a house!
ReplyDeleteI think Grandma would be mortified to see those bikes hanging on the walls, as seen in the MLS pictures. What the...? I want to buy it and make it wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI want to put the old porch back on so it looks the way it did when I was young. Exactly like the house next door.
